Hi guys,

Just out of curiosity, could you guys name a few Vinnie solos/grooves that you'd want the most to be transcribed?

Thanks,

Rob

My request would be the solo over the vamp at the end of Indian Time Zones from Thanks 2 Frank. I've got most of it dialed but would like to see someone who might be a better transcriptionist take a shot at it. That solo is my favorite of Vinnie's on any album I've heard yet.

i would love to see that zildjian day solo transcribed (not the scotland one but the other one...although both are cool). its on the zildjian day sampler.

Although,i think it is next to imposible to transcribe because the time signature is basicly never accented on the downbeat and its all at lightning speed.

Personaly i think someone could wear out the rewind button on that solo (you rewind it too far and have to listen to the bars youve already finished, so next time you rewind it less and cant get a feel of the time for the bar your trying to transcribe- tedious)!

What u just said is similar to what bums me out a little bit about certain clips -
...some of em start at, say, the exact starting point of the drum solo, giving no reference by including at least a 1 bar phrase prior to...& when it comes to VC, DW, VD, or DC, etc, 1 usually needs to have that ref point if they start the solo by immediately going into a layered-polyrhythm - so 1 has to wear out the 'rewind' & 'play' functions to hear it properly, moreso than if u had a little 'lead-in'...
...Not that I'm COMPLAININ' about those GREAT clips some of u guys have been postin'....

Put on track 6 from Secrets, called Maid Marion and forward it to 5 minutes... Surely it's impossible!! It sounds as if he's taken his drum kit and thrown it down a flight of stairs!!

That album is simply phoenomenal, Vinnie himself says it's his favourite example of his own playing.

Actually, Chad W. is really good on "Peril Premonition" off Secrets as well.

Chad is increadable isn't he! His playing on Scream (his newish solo release) is fantastic. The man for sure.
